Silicon Alley Electronics was founded in the midst of the global chip shortage. 

As gamers and computer enthusiasts, we were part of the large group of people frustrated at how difficult it had become to purchase parts for our PCs, and new prices were very high when components were in stock. The used market for parts had always been something of a wild west, with little assurance of the quality of parts, whether or not they’ll work, and always coming from different people. We felt the need to change that. With a reliable provider of used parts that are cleaned, tested, and verified, the shortage of available parts would be alleviated and it would be much easier for everyone to sell parts they don’t need anymore, and to buy the parts they do want to finish their next build.
